- an update -
Picture-lock on 'Henryk' has been reached!! After an arduous and epic struggle with Adobe Media Encoder (among other software). Christopher Wood and I have reached the point where the entire body of the film has been cut, arranged, and made ready for the final touches. It runs at approximately 2 hours, if nothing were to be cut. We could not have reached this stage without the contributions of our wonderful donors listed below, and those funds will continue to carry us into the special effects stage. In a nutshell, all that's left to do is ADR, foley(sound effects), and color correction. It's taken a lot of maddening hours staring at a computer screen to get here, but I'm extremely proud of everyone who's been a part of this project, especially now as I watch the pieces coming together. The most astounding thing for me has been watching the characters come to life, given how scattered the locations were and spread apart some scenes were shot. Both the performances and the twisting plot are really driving this film in its rough-cut form. I look forward to updating everybody more as the process comes to an end. Cast, crew, donors, friends and family will all be contacted when the premiere has been set. My sincerest thanks!

About the film:
'Henryk' is the story of police officer Julian Grey, who upon returning to his folksy hometown of Hoquiam, WA, uncovers the murderous practices of a fabled Satanic cult. When Julian must infiltrate the ritualistic cult to rescue his best friend's fiance, he finds he is faced with the ultimate test of his intuition, morality, and his own sanity. Set against the dumpy, industrial, sea-side backdrop of Hoquiam, Ocean Shores, and Olympia WA, 'Henryk' aims to present the strange and indiscernible qualities of a lonely ghost-town overrun with evangelic Satanists, who lurk beneath the surface of society. Steeped in religious iconography, the film is largely inspired by Sergei Parajanov's 1968 cinema masterpiece The Color of Pomogranates, as well as the works of David Lynch and Lars von Trier. Principle photography begins in Fall 2011, in association with Adventus Films and The Evergreen State College. Shooting will take place in Issaquah, Olympia, Anacortes, Hoodsport, and Ocean Shores on the new Sony NEX-FS 100 (35mm sensor). Below you can view some of my favorite clips from Sergei's Parajanov's film.
